On Monday morning my friend stopped by, overwhelmed by all the things she needed to take care of. She knew, that I organize time for a living, but first of all, she knew that somehow, despite the work I do, I can have a day off even on Monday. With desperation in her voice, she asked how I do it.
Emily fell into a chaos hole and realized, that life is slipping through her fingers. She glanced at people who were so happy and joyful. They were fulfilling their goals and had time for hobbies. Emily thought that they all have more time than she had. She couldn’t understand how it’s possible, that she can’t make the deadlines despite working to late hours. This made her live in constant stress and belief that she will never get her life together. She had enough.
Her biggest problem, was the mess in her life. She was drowning in responsibilities, that seemed to have no end. Of course, there were more of them coming constantly. She didn’t know what to do first and how to do it efficiently. She needed more time, but it was too elusive. She was wasting it on stuff that she thought are necessary to do.
On her days off, she still had a house to maintain and the children, but her mind was still occupied by her job. She didn’t have any time to get her brain to focus on something else, but she also knew that the problems won’t just magically disappear on their own.
I’m glad, that she came to me for help. I could explain to her, that every single one of us has exactly the same amount of time available. Despite everything, each human has only 24 hours per day or so much, as 24 hours. I told Emily, how to slowly start managing this time. I gave her the tools and techniques, that allowed her for efficient work without unnecessary frustration and worries.
I invited her for a tea, so we can relax and talk about how she could fix her life even as fast as in one week. Obviously, she didn’t have this much time, so we met only after very late evening. She came late, but it’s okay. I used the time of waiting for Emily, for making flyers for freedom movement. So, as you can see, I didn’t waste this time.
I understand that she could come late. She’s just so busy. I also don’t like to set meetings strictly on certain time, because I don’t wanna play chase with time. I prefer that it flows, and I do what I do. I was so happy that she even showed up and that I could help. Her main issue was the illusion of having no time. Paradoxically, to have more time, you need to make time first – to sit down and plan it.
I put on some music, to make our brains work smoother, so despite the late hours and permanent tiredness, Emily could focus on what was to change her life. It was already Monday, so the week has started. However, nothing was standing in our way to make the changes for Tuesday. Emily decided that she wants to start now. I walked her through the journey, during which, she was already able to suppress the stress and feel at ease.
Emily just did a great amount of work. She left my house convinced, that her life is beginning to change for the better. She had everything sorted out, was calm, and she knew perfectly what steps to take next. We decided to meet again on Sunday.
How to change your life in 7 days
After two days I got a text from Emily, that she can’t wait to meet with me again. She had so many things to tell me, about the results of the plan we created and about what she had learnt so far. She started to see herself as a completely different person, and what happened in her life after the first week of our meeting wasn’t just accidental.
On Sunday, I met with a totally different Emily. This woman had still a lot of work to do, but her energy was so much higher now. It was possible, because of the results she got in just one week.
First week of the rest of your life you can plan for example on Friday, Saturday or Sunday. I wanna invite you to the week planning together. While reading this book, you will do it with me.
Sometimes there are these moments in life, when we don’t have a clue about what to do, because there’s just so much of it. When we are worked up, we need good time management method.
All the time, I get questions from my students on how to plan, how to organize better, because they struggle with it. I suppose if you’re reading this book, you are making, maybe already another, attempt. Perhaps you figured some stuff out already, some methods don’t work for you at all, and you want specific information. That’s why I decided to show you, how to plan your week.
Of course, this is just an inspiration for you. I will show you how I do it, and you’re gonna use the parts that work for you. In this way, you’re gonna form your own method of planning. My method doesn’t have to suit everyone. If need be, you can always modify your method later, so it fits you better.
What you’re gonna need
To plan this week with me, you need the right planning tool. These can be various types of tools, such as an application on the phone, a paper planner or a regular sheet of paper on which you can write the dates of each day for the next week.
Now is a good time to put your planner in front of you. If you have a paper planner or app, just get it ready. What makes life better in general?
Isn’t it that life is the better, the more you feel fulfilled in this life? When is everything as you expect it to be? For your life to be the way you want it, you just need to make it that way. This is best done by creating a proper life plan and, more importantly, carrying it out.
It's not about changing your whole life now, but start with the first week.
I have this week planned, and now I will show you my planner. I am currently planning on the Time Planner app from Oleksandr Albul.
Sometimes I get information from my students that of course they have their planners, but they are only partially filled out. This is because at the time of purchasing the planner, they have a strong resolution that they will become an organized person, and later they sometimes abandon it.
In such cases, planners without specific dates work well. If you happen to deviate from planning for a week or two, you can always go back to that habit without wasting the dated weeks. You just enter the current dates yourself. Do the same for holidays or vacation breaks.

It's best if you match your choice as much as possible. It’s good when in the planner, in addition to the weekly plan, you also find a place for notes. This is very important. My students often mentioned that they wrote down their thoughts, ideas and reminders on pieces of paper, which then got lost somewhere. Here you can write these things down in the note box. This could be something to plan for the next week, something you want to keep in mind, current thoughts, ideas, etc.
I usually used a paper calendar, and I also tested various phone applications. All the apps I used had their own pros and cons. However, after some time it turned out that I did not follow the plan that was included in them, because I simply didn’t open these apps.
Therefore, it is important that you have an additional stimulus that will attract you to your app. It can be an element of rivalry in the app, rivalry with other people, e.g. with a friend, or a simple reminder on the phone, or in the planning app itself.
Although I currently plan my week in an app, I have a plan for each day written in a paper sheet for a given day. I prepare it every morning and work with it. I also have such a sheet prepared for you as a gift. You can download your day plan by entering your email on this page:

A planner where you plan the entire week and then prepare a plan for each day separately is a very convenient and easy to read weekly planning tool for beginners. Personally, I love paper planners. However, you may be an admirer of the time management apps. It doesn't really matter what tool you use. It is more important that you know how to move around your tool in such a way that you can implement your plan as much as possible.
To be able to implement your plan for the whole week, you need to plan it well. Therefore, we will now move on to the individual steps on how to do this. Our shared goal at the moment is that you finish reading this book with your plan ready for next week. Thanks to this, you will be able to see how much proper planning will affect your life. Already after this first week, you will be able to see that you are changing. You will be able to feel in yourself how much you are changing when you plan your week well.
I asked you to prepare your planning tool. Don't start this step until you have it in front of you. If you already have it, let's get started!
The main element on which you will base your weekly agenda will be your goals. If you are interested in this book, it means that you already have a vision of your life and how you would like to change it. Even if you don't have your goals written down, you are still realizing one in your life. For example, these could be your career goals. If you work for a company, that company sets specific goals for you. On their basis, the tasks that you perform in this work are shaped. You may not even be fully aware of these goals, but nevertheless in your work you gradually achieve them.
In your private life, you also certainly pursue some goals, although you are not always aware of them. It is also possible that you are very aware of your goals and set them systematically. If not, I encourage you to set them yourself. In your spare time, you can easily find tons of information on the internet about how to set your goals.
Now, for the purposes of planning this week, the easiest way is to simply write down the goals that come to your mind at the moment. Ask yourself what you really want, and you will have an outline of your goal or some goals.
Remembering your New Year's resolutions can help. Perhaps you had one. You can refresh them now and write down the ones that are important to you to complete.
With the help of these few tips above, you have outlined the direction of your actions. They are needed mainly to write down specific tasks to be done this week. p
Breakdown of goals into tasks
It’s known that complex and long-term goals will not be achieved in one day. Usually, achieving goals does not consist in completing one task. Although it may be. If, for example, your goal is to confess love to a loved one, then of course you can do it in one day and even in an instant. If, on the other hand, you want to propose, even though it may also take a while, it takes a lot of preparation. And these preparations are the sentences that bring you closer to achieving your goal.
When it comes to individual tasks for your list of goals, you subconsciously know what to do to achieve these goals. However, to look at this achievement more clearly and realistically, I encourage you to write down a list of tasks that will lead you to each goal. p
The second step was taken from the popular Getting Things Done method. The point is, we often keep information in our head about what we have to do. You also have a lot of other things in your head, and it can all get mixed up. That is why it is worth ditching these things from your memory, relieving it a little. Many people told me after exercising that they felt lighter and more relaxed without having to remember all the things that were waiting to be done. It was very convenient to write everything down on paper or on a computer or even on the phone. In a word, on the outside of the head.
If you also have your to-do list in your head, there's room for you to throw it out in this second step. These will be all kinds of things: call, arrange something, buy something, look for a new job, learn to invest, make a dream come true. If you have such and similar things in your head, I invite you to take a piece of paper and write down all the tasks that come to your mind at the moment.
It may be that for a few more days you will supplement this list with things that you will still remember. You might be surprised by the amount of these tasks, both one way and the other. I.e. You may have thought you had a few things to do, and you would list a few dozen. Or vice versa, you may feel overwhelmed by the amount of tasks to be completed, and once you write them down, you will realize that there really isn't much of it. This is because having it all in your head, you are not able to assess and count it at one moment, and the stress caused by the urgency of tasks disturbs rational thinking about them.
If you are the person who has such a list for a long time, in this step it is enough to prepare it. It will be needed to plan your week.
The main feature of such a list is that it, as a rule, never ends. Even if you write down everything you had in mind, there will always be new tasks, challenges and decisions in your life that you can add to this list.
One more note. When making this checklist, try to write down not only the things you MUST do. There are certainly things in your head that you WANT to do or SHOULD do. There are also some that you don't know yet if you will make them. You can also save them and leave them to decide on their execution at the right moment for you. p
